The impossible task

I am always delighted at the quizzical look I get on a newcomer's face when I attempt to explain the goal of making the speakers disappear.

It seems so counterintuitive and yet that is what many of us attempt to do.

How is it possible to make largeish wooden boxes sitting in your living room vanish? Well, the first thing you want to do is at the core of this counter intuition. Instead of pushing them up against the wall and maybe decorate around them so they blend into the surroundings, we do the opposite. We pull them out into the room where they simply cannot be visually ignored.

But, turn the light down low and close your eyes and, if you've got the right equipment and setup, there in front of you plays musicians in your living room.

Our eyes don't deceive us. The boxes sit in our rooms. But, sometimes it helps to turn off our logical brains that tell us why something cannot be.
