The skeptic

We audiophiles can be a skeptical bunch.

The second someone claims a power cable can tighten the bass or open up the top end, the pitchforks come out. “Snake oil!” “Placebo!” “Physics says no!” And yet… what if?

This seems to be a pattern with folks. If it doesn't resonate with our beliefs we jump up and down and deny it exists without even giving it a chance. Are we afraid of trying something for fear it might work and...gasp....we might be wrong?

The thing is, we don't like being told we missed something. So we defend the walls of our knowledge instead of opening the door to possibility. But in high-end audio, that door leads to discovery. And sometimes, it’s not about what should matter—it’s about what does.

So next time someone says they hear something you don’t believe, try not to argue.

JIt's often worth a try.
