We like it loud—but too much of a good thing is still too much.
There’s this idea that cranking up the volume reveals more. And it does—until it doesn’t. Push it too far and everything gets larger than life. Vocals balloon to fill the room, drum kits turn into stadium size.
Instead of realism, we get caricature.
Turn it down too far and things shrink. A grand piano turns into a toy.
The trick is finding the volume that feels natural. Where a voice sounds human-sized, and the instruments hold their place in space. Not too big, not too small. Just right.
And it's different for every track of music, the size of the room and even the number of people in the room.
Trick is, you have to listen.
Louder doesn’t always mean better.
Right means better.
