Most of us have both vinyl and digital in our systems. I certainly do.
But where do we focus? Where do we put our energy, our investment, our tuning efforts? It’s easy to be pulled in both directions, chasing better DACs while upgrading turntable cartridges, but dividing our attention can mean never fully realizing the potential of either.
There’s no wrong choice—it’s about what moves you. If the ritual of spinning records, the beauty of holding music in your hand, and cueing up a stylus is part of the joy—and who doesn't like that?—then lean into vinyl. If resolution, a black background, and access to vast libraries of music speak to you, then digital deserves your focus.
The key is choosing where your heart lies and letting that be your north star.
Because an amazing vinyl setup or an amazing digital setup will always beat a half-baked attempt at both.
