Music isn’t math, and specs don’t tell the whole story.
Trusting our ears means letting go of preconceived notions. A component with “perfect” measurements can sound sterile and lifeless, while one that looks mediocre on paper can make music sing.
The only way to know is to listen.
If a popular piece of kit sounds wrong to you, then it’s wrong—for you.
Of course, ears can be fooled. Expectation bias is real, and we all hear what we want to hear sometimes. But in the end, listening is about experience, not measurement.
If a system gives you goosebumps, if it makes you forget about the gear and get lost in the music, then it’s doing its job.
It's not always easy to trust ourselves, but the more we do the better we get at it.
