Getting it right

When something is right, we don’t notice it.

That’s the curse of perfection. The better something works, the more invisible it becomes. A system with impeccable tonal balance, seamless imaging, and effortless dynamics doesn’t call attention to itself—it just disappears, leaving only the music. And because we don’t notice what’s right, we focus on what’s wrong.

That scratchy high note, that slightly bloated bass, that one cymbal that doesn’t quite shimmer. We obsess over what needs fixing but rarely stop to appreciate what’s already working beautifully. It’s human nature. But sometimes, we need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and let ourselves appreciate how far we’ve come.

Perfection isn’t about the absence of flaws. It’s about being lost in the music.
