One of the reasons why I write this daily post is to try and help the members of our community gain an understanding of a complicated subject.
On the surface, stepping into high end audio is about as simple as buying a new car. Choose the make and model, adjust the steering wheel and seat, put it in drive and see ya later.
Buy a 2-channel audio system, press play, enjoy.
Oh, if only it were that simple.
Look a little deeper and we understand it seems simple only because we already possess a wealth of knowledge. We carry with us a mental picture of what all this looks like, how its connected, and what a basic system should do.
Can do.
This is what I would think of as inherent knowledge. You wouldn't be reading this post if you didn't already have a pretty good idea of what's going on and why.
Learning a bit about the finer details of how things work—even the fundamental differences between analog and digital—puts you ahead of 99.9% of the music lovers on the planet.
Why does that matter? Because with knowledge we can open doors closed to everyone else.
We can reproduce a musical experience in our home few in the world are even aware exists.
The finer details of a subject build upon your knowledge in a way that elevates your decision making abilities and, I for one, am thrilled to be a part of this process.
Thanks for being here.
