Location recording
Seem like one of the more glamorous jobs in the recording industry might be location recording—going to the live event with the best seat in the house and access to the backstage.
And sometimes it is.
A few nights ago, Terri and I were treated to front row seats for a live jazz show with pianist Erik Deutsch at Denver's Dazzle nightclub. Halfway into a lovely glass of Chardonnay, our feet were tapping and the smiles on our faces big. The music was great and we knew our Octave Record's recording crew were downstairs of the restaurant perfectly capturing every nuance of the live event in pure DSD.
Following the performance, Terri and I ambled down the stairs to find Octave engineer Steve Vidaic and producer Giselle Collazo for a preview of what they had captured.
"What's that smell?" asked Terri before reaching the bottom of the stairs.
She was right. Ugh.

It'll put a smile on your face.
