One thing I hope we can all agree on is our diversity. We’re all different, especially when it comes to how we build our systems.
Some are like the proverbial tortoise: slow, steady, reasoned, without guesswork and filled with plenty of research. Others, like me, are more Hare-like: quick, jerky, willing to experiment, with plenty of trial and error. Each has its merits as well as pitfalls.
What’s important about this observation is pointing out the need to recognize which we are. Hares should not be urged to bide their time any more than tortoises should be pushed beyond their comfort levels.
The golden moments in building a music system are achieved when each of us works within our comfort zones.
HT to Malcolm Gladwell for the idea behind the post.
