One way ticket

You can make a digital copy of a vinyl record and lose nothing, but the other way around doesn't work.

What does that say?

Logically, I would suspect the conclusion would be that a digital capture is more accurate, more true to life, and without an added sonic personality.

Just because something is logical doesn't mean it's true.

What's missing is the unique signature of the analog recording, one that mirrors reality in ways PCM digital audio captures do not. An Ansel Adams photograph on good old analog film draws you into the scene far better than even the sharpest digital image.

The how of the conversion process is critical, a fact that has drawn us into the sometimes lonely world of DSD for just about everything we do for capturing and playing back music.

If real is your goal, as it is ours, then it's helpful to recognize there's no such thing as a perfect round trip.
