Do we ever question our taste buds?
The subjective nature of our tastes—what I like versus what you like—is an easy concept to accept. It doesn't surprise us when a four year old scrunches their face up at the taste of a food we might love like broccoli, yet we get all wigged out when our measurement systems don't correlate with our senses.
Is one more correct than the other?
A chemical analysis showing more sweetener in one vanilla ice cream versus the other doesn't change my taste choice any more than lower distortion numbers in DAC A sound better than what I hear in DAC B.
It's all about taste.
