I know enough German to get around town and order food, but not much more.
Yet, I routinely enjoy worldwide communication through the language of high-end audio.
I don't need to be fluent in Mandarin to understand a look of approval or concern over music's reproduction. Many's the time in China, Germany, Italy, Japan, or wherever I listen—to communicate with another audiophile—through little more than a facial expression.
The same can be said about tasting food, viewing art, or feeling the warm breeze on our faces. Emotional responses know no language barriers.
As audiophiles, we speak a shared language through music and equipment.
A language only a precious few understand.
