How many of us work hard to squeeze every last bit of toothpaste out of the depleted tube? I know I do. Before that sucker goes in the trash I attack it from every angle imaginable to get what's left.
And one has to ask why? The new tube sits there waiting, full of paste and ready to go.
I think the same applies to our HiFi equipment. Before replacing that older DAC or preamplifier we'll try and squeeze out every last bit from it: cables, footers, tweaks, incantations.
If, in the end, you're moving to the new and wonderful, it might pay to stop squeezing every last bit and just go for it.
