I remember well the days when remote controls were unheard of. Televisions didn't have them and certainly stereos didn't either.
Which meant that everything from volume to balance had to be operated manually. Getting out of the chair and futzing with the knobs.
Today's a different dynamic. Other than inserting a new disc into the PerfectWave SACD player, I almost never touch the knobs and buttons on the gear's front panel.
So, why do we still spend the time, money, and effort to build products with physical controls?
Is it simply a feel-good feature that we're used to? What would happen if we eliminated them from future products?
New automobiles don't seem to have cigarette lighters nor ashtrays anymore.
Just curious as to everyone's thoughts.
