One of my more controversial YouTube videos seems to be one where a customer reached out and asked the proverbial question:
"If I have champagne tastes but only a budget for beer, what's an eager audiophile to do?"
And my reply was to grab a pair of the $4K Aspen FR5s and an integrated amp. Seems reasonable? Right?
Holy smokes. Fireworks and lots of questions asking what planet I live on.
Of course, everything's relative. The computer I am typing this on probably costs more than most people's source of home music.
And much depends on where you place the emphasis for whatever goods you purchase.
If music and its reproduction are important to you, as opposed to some other form of emotional connection, then prioritizing your expenditures in the direction of high-performance audio makes a lot of sense.
One always wonders what draws folks so shocked at the price of beer to a video channel about high-end audio.
Will wonders never cease?
