Audio snobs

The dictionary defines snobbery. "A person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people." An apt description of some but rarely audiophiles. Audiophiles want to share our knowledge, experience, and our joy of music—something a snob would not do. Snobs want their club to be exclusive. They are, after all, convinced their "tastes are superior". The audiophiles I know and love aren't snobs. In fact, quite the opposite. We're all convinced what we hear is not only real, but something easily shared with others. A blessing provided by our systems. It is not we that are superior. Our equipment is. System snobbery? Hell yes! There's no doubt in my mind that my reference system is better than 99.99% of all music reproduction systems on the planet. That's not my attempt at bragging, just an observation based on my crappy little home system representing what's out there in the world. We're not superior people. Our systems are. Let's make a point of sharing what's wonderful about our hand-selected music systems with as many people we can. There's no better gift than a new experience.
