The death of CES
The Consumer Electronics Show has been on life support for years. With the recent announcement from USA Today that "CES has been named one of the 10 Best Auto Shows in the world," I would have to say a proper funeral is all we're missing. I've been attending the January CES for just about as long as it has been running. And I remember when consumer electronics was more stereo than cars, drones, and robots. I get it. A tradeshow is a business. It has no obligation to be a value proposition for anyone other than the owners of the tradeshow. Whatever brings in the hordes to fill the Las Vegas Convention Center is what a tradeshow company should focus on if they have no intention of providing value to their namesake. I am just lamenting on what was and remarking on what is. Things change and generally for the better. But, not always.
