Sometimes the nicknames we use to speak of technical concepts can be confusing.
For example, an AC wiring home run is not the same as a baseball home run.
In baseball, a home run finds our batter running in a circle from home plate, around the bases, and back again to home plate. A full circle.
In a home audio or video setting, an AC home run wiring technique simply means a dedicated circuit from an AC outlet back to the circuit breaker panel. One cable between circuit breaker and AC outlet.
Technically speaking, it is in fact a home run since the equipment powered at the outlet is actually in the middle of that run: basically, at 2nd base. Which points out another common misconception, that our equipment is at the end of the wire instead of in the middle.
Perhaps it would be better to call a dedicated home run circuit a Second Base run. While it might be confusing at first, a little thought later it'll all make more sense.
