Physics can be a cruel mistress.
The perfect listening position is often just that—a position. A single chair, perfectly centered, where everything is dialed in just right. Move too far to one side, and the illusion starts to collapse. Instruments shift, the soundstage tilts, and the magic fades.
I'll never forget going to an audio show and seeing a single front-to-back row of chairs in front of a pair of electrostats. But this arrangement doesn't work for most of us.
So, we compromise. We adjust our speaker placement to widen the sweet spot. We experiment with room treatments and seating positions, all in the hopes of broader coverage.
Yet, at the proverbial end of the day, the sweetest spot remains at the center because physics doesn't care if you believe in it or not.
