What's that old saying? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?"
I just love old sayings. They tie neat little bows around common sense wisdom offering a truth of sorts. Only, sometimes it helps to look beyond the sayings.
Your system doesn't have to be officially broken to fix things. For example, I have long been a vocal advocate of setup improvements that can make quite a dent in an otherwise ho-hum system. But, let's not ignore actual product upgrades.
When's the last time you thought about upgrading? Swapping out that faithful stereo amp for a pair of new monoblocks, or retiring the myth that it's best to plug your equipment straight into the AC wall socket?
Equipment doesn't have to be broken to fix things.
Sometimes it's enough just to want better.
