Back in the 1970s, when Terri and I were rock and roll DJs in Santa Maria, California, the radio station's phone lines were continually abuzz asking us to play their favorites: Whole Lotta Love, Do You Feel Like We Do, Inagaddadavida. Over and over again the same crowd wanted to hear the same songs. Their favorites.
Favorites have been with us for as long as music has touched our souls. Whether it's a catchy melody, an emotional stimulation, an amazing recording, or a stellar performance that leaves you breathless, something in the music acts as a hook bringing you back, time and time again.
It's fun to experiment with new music but, for me, it's almost always in the hopes of adding to my list of favorites.
Fun to share, worth revisiting when the mood strikes, favorites are a real treasure.
