On the subject of integrateds vs. separates, what would happen if you took an entire system's worth of separates from the same company and put them all into one box?
Aside from having a big box, you would have the best sounding integrated on the planet.
Right?
Come to think of it, isn't that kind of what we're doing when we place our collection of separates on a shelf and connect them together? The only real difference is the big box.
In fact, building a system of separates is just a natural extension of the integrated's role with one big exception.
Separates allow you to upgrade individual components within the integrated system making better the whole.
This is not a rant against integrateds. Not by any means (my home system is based on a Stellar Strata integrated).
