The P300 Power Plant was the world’s first AC regenerator and began today’s serious interest in AC power solutions for high end audio. We’re proud to say that this is the piece that not only started it all, but also continues to set the standard for high-end AC power. Eight years after its introduction, no other company has built one whose performance even comes close to this classic product. Several 'wanna be' competitors have introduced regenerators, but none have MultiWave and none can claim low distortion sine waves under load. Only the Power Plants can legitimately make these claims. Over the years, we’ve delivered thousands of P300 Power Plants and they continue to provide excellent service to thousands of audio and Videophile’s the world over. A good thing gets better We ceased production of the P300 Power Plant in early 2006 and promised we’d replace it within a year or so with a new model. We continue to work towards release of a future product, but in the meantime we wanted to offer P300 Power Plant owners the opportunity to enjoy their products even more. Introducing the P300 modification program, our first factory mod program. Over the years we listened carefully to our customers and what they wanted and believe we’ve come up with a modification with everything people wanted.• Remote control • UPC-200 input filter • All new capacitors • All new wiring • Power Port AC receptacles • Fix the logo light • Improve the sonics Remote control For years, you’ve been asking for a remote control for the Power Plants to change MultiWave settings on the fly, hit CleanWave between cuts and turn the unit on and off. Well, the P300 modification program offers you just that: a brand new remote control designed specifically for the P300 Power Plant. This is way cool. You can switch between functions, you can select MultiWaves, you can press a single button and the unit will kick in and Clean up connected equipment with CleanWave. The remote is an absolute “must have” for every P300 owner. We’ve been asked if we can just sell the remote separately and unfortunately the answer is no. The reason is even if you had the remote the P300 was never designed to accept it. So, part of the modification program is to add an IR sensor and all the software needed to operate it. UPC-200 input filter The cleaner the power going in the cleaner the power going out. That’s true for a filter as well as a regenerator and the P300 is no different. The original P300 used what’s known as a Corcom AC filter. The Corcom’s are used primarily for very high frequency noise rejection and found a lot in DAC’s and transports. The original filter in the P300 did a great job of cleaning up the over 1mHz noise generated by the P300’s power supply, but a UPC-200’s Power Cell kicks in at 100kHz, or 10 times lower and therefore is a much more effective filter. All new capacitors To improve the sound of a unit you first go straight to the power supply and the P300’s no different. We designed a special capacitor for the power supply called the PS Gold Series. The Gold Series caps have lower ESR and work better at higher temperatures. It took a lot of engineering to build these caps, but now they’re done and perfect for the P300 Power Plant. While we’re in there, we also remove and replace every other electrolytic as well. All new wiring When we first built the P300 Power Plant we used Monster Cable Special wire which is a really good copper wire but over the years we’ve certainly found better. For this modification, we change out all the Monster Special and replace with OFC silver plated wire that’s encased in a Teflon outer jacket for much better results. Power Port AC receptacles Most P300 Power Plants already have Power Port AC receptacles, but for those we receive that do not, we’ll upgrade the original hospital grade receptacles to two new Power Ports. Fix the logo light ![]() OK, we admit it. One of the things we really screwed up on when we built the P300 was using an incandescent light bulb to light up the little blue front panel PS logo. We’ve replaced so many of these bulbs that we’re all tired of it. Best laid plans of mice and men and all. So, we came up with a permanent fix using an LED that’ll never die and that’s included as well. Improve the sonics All these changes: cleaner input power, new capacitors, new wires, re-bias all the transistors and make sure everything’s up to par has a big effect on the sonics of connected equipment to the P300. They just sound better. And, as a bonus, the remote control makes the P300 a lot more fun than it ever was. The P300 Power Plant will remain one of the classic pieces of all time and we hope the thousands of you that own them will take advantage of this program to upgrade and will keep your P300’s for many years to come. Plus, MultiWave II+ If you haven't yet upgraded to either MultiWave II or MultiWave II+, now's the chance to do this. For an extra $100, you can upgrade to the latest software. However, if you do not have MultiWave II+ either installed now or do not purchase this upg rade, then the CleanWave function on the remote will not work.CleanWave will only work if you either have MultiWave II+ or upgrade to MultiWave II+ for an additional $100. If you’re interested You can go to the PS webstore and sign up for the service. When you do, we’ll contact you with a ship date and it should take about 1 week to turn it around, max. If you’d prefer, you can call us directly, toll free at 866.406.8946 ext. 105 and we’ll make the arrangements for you over the phone. At this time, the modification program is only available for US and Canada. We’ll work on making a modification program for our international customers. Have fun! |
