![]() Accessories > Juice Bar Juice Bar More Info Starting at just $199.95! Need more receptacles? Most of us do, but don't compromise the performance of your equipment with an ordinary extension strip.Even a short molded plug extender can noticeably degrade the performance of your audio system and certainly your video equipment as well. Now, there's no need to compromise. The Juice Bar is here! The Juice Bar is a no compromise plug extender built around three PS Audio Power Ports, a detachable AC inlet, a heavy 14 gauge shielded power cord to connect the Juice Bar to the wall socket, and a blue LED indicator. Built like no other The Juice bar is built for Audio and Video Philes BY Audio and Video Philes who care a great deal about system performance. This is the same equipment we use in our systems, and we made no compromises in its construction. ![]() Our original intention was to find a good extension strip so owners of our power products could add more plugs and still enjoy the benefits of their Power Plants and Ultimate Outlets. After testing as many extension strips as we could lay our hands on, we were dissapointed to discover that all of them compromised the sound of our system. The biggest problem we found was the way they were wired, and the quality of materials. To create a proper receptacle extension strip you need to have a separate wire going from each receptacle back to the source, and proper receptacles. Star Wiring Our first task, when we set out to build the Juice Bar, was to define the way it had to be wired internally. On close inspection, it became obvious that nearly every plug extension box we examined wired their products incorrectly. Even well regarded Audiophile companies had it wrong. Sure, they used great wire and the right solder and techniques, but they didn't go the extra mile. Each receptacle needs a separate path back to the source of power. This is because each receptacle has the capacity of contaminating the adjacent receptacle when you are powering equipment. It is actually the equipment that is the culprit! Every piece of electronics generates noise and hash when it is operating and these undesireable byproducts are put back onto the AC line. If a multiple plug strip is wired in the standard series method, where a single wire pair connects all the receptacles together, then each receptacle can contaminate the next. The way around this unfortunate problem is to use a star wiring pattern. In this pattern, each receptacle has its own pair of wires that return to the AC input. This reduces the interaction of each receptacle and provides the lowest impedance. The difference in performance is both measurable and dramatic when a star wiring method is employed. Why don't more manufacturers employs this wiring scheme? It is both difficult and more costly to do so. Understandably, this is never done in the mass produced extension strips, but we wonder why more high end audio and video manufacturers fail to do so as well. Power Ports and wire Once you have determined the best way to build the product, you next need to concentrate on materials. What is actually going into the product? This is a simple product. It is basically a metal chassis, receptacles and wire. The Power Ports are where we started. The Power Ports are (in our opinion) the finest AC receptacles on the market today, bar none. 15 coats of nickel plating which is then polished and hand assembled for us. These are hospital grade, AV quality receptacles that we will put up against anyone else's under any conditions. They are simply the best. Next is the wire. Here we specified 14 gauge, pure OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) multiple strand copper wire. While the gauge is quite heavy (comparable to the gauge found in your house), it is constructed of a very fine 36 gauge wire. To achieve the overall diameter and copper surface area we needed in each conductor we used hundreds of these very fine strands. This is the sa me wire that all of our products are wired with and is an excellent performer. And that's about it! Now all we needed to do was to build the product, use the proper solder, and get this baby out the door at a reasonable price. The last part turned out to be a bit of a challenge but we met the goal. At $199.00, the Juice Bar is the single best plug extender on the market today. Need a few extra high-end plugs for your system? Click here to try one out today and we guarantee you'll be delighted with the results. And make sure you are plugging the Juice Bar into a Power Port in your wall (they are really easy to install) and are connecting it with any of our xStream Power Cables. The AC cord that is supplied with the Juice Bar is a nicely built shielded power cord - but for maximum performance you can't beat an after-market power cord like the xStream series. Bottom Line Why plug your expensive equipment into an inferior AC connector such as the ones in your wall? These cheap corroding AC receptacles that populate your home are fine for a vacuum cleaner, the toaster, or a table lamp, but they should not be used for any serious audio or video application. Don't compromise when you don't have to.Finally. There's a solution we can all benefit from and it is available at a price we can afford.
